My
eclectic business and leadership background . .
.
My
experience spans over 18 years in healthcare delivery
and healthcare technology business management.
Before launching my consulting and coaching firm, I
previously held the position of Sr. Vice
President of Research and Development with HBS
International, overseeing new product development,
healthcare outcomes research, and clinical effectiveness
programs. Prior to that, I served as Medical Director
for IDX Systems, leading electronic medical
record development and market strategy for the hospital
market. My transition into the business
world came after ten years of practicing clinical medicine where
I witnessed first hand the tremendous capacity of my
patients to tap into their potential and transform their
lives, families, work and community.
My
business philosophy:
During
my many years as a practicing physician I was
inspired by the resilience and resourcefulness
of my patients. I learned first hand that people
have an enormous potential to transform their
lives, their businesses and the community around
them. Unfortunately this untapped potential
sometimes unfolds only in the face of
serious illness---when we are forced to "take stock"
in our life. Only then do we feel truly free to
speak and act with clarity and
conviction.
But clarity and conviction need not
come from crisis. It can happen for you now!
When
I entered the business world as a healthcare technology executive
I took with me a "life is short"
attitude about leadership, business and
teamwork:
Life
is too short to waste people potential
Life
is too short to hold back good ideas because of fear
Life
is too short to shrink from speaking your
"true voice"
The
other principle I hold is that individuals want
very much to have an impact, to
influence organizational direction and to be part of a
grand vision. Business leaders need simply to open the door and invite that
commitment.
My
education and credentials . . .
My undergraduate
work was in Biomedical Engineering at the
University
of
New Mexico; medical training was also at the
University
Of
New Mexico School Of Medicine, where I was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor
Society. My post-graduate Residency training was
completed at the
University
of
Washington; I am board certified in Internal Medicine.
In 1998 I
earned a Masters in Business
Administration from the University
of
Tennessee. I am Certified Physician
Executive through the American College of Physician
Executives. My executive coach training has been through the
Academy for Coach Training and the Graduate School of
Corporate Coaching.
Well
versed in medical management issues, I am a Fellow and
Board Member of the
American
College
of Physician Executives, the leading organization of
health system physician executives and leaders.
